Percentage Muslim in 2021 for District/Unitary Authority
Muslims were the largest of the non-Christian religions in 2001, but the proportion of the total population may surprise some people: 2.78%. Over two-thirds of them lived in the 44 districts whose populations were over 5% Muslim, and these districts were overwhelmingly urban. By 2021 Muslims comprised over 6% of the national population.
