Castle consists of remains of an ancient seat of the De la Poles; comprises moat, drawbridge, battlemented walls, turrets, and towers; and has been partly converted into a farmhouse. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Norwich. Value, £298.* Patron, the Bishop of N. The church is a very fine ancient structure; was made collegiate, in 1362, by the widow and the brother of Sir John Wingfield; and was extensively restored in 1867.
