Dolphiston, a farm in Oxnam parish, Roxburghshire, near the right bank of Jed Water, 4¾ miles SSE of Jedburgh. Its curious old Border fortalice, now demolished, was the haunt of a brownie, till, hurt by the offer of a coarse linen shirt, he departed, and in departing sang- 'Sin' ye've gien me a harden ramp.
