Glenfeochan, an estate, with a modern mansion, in Kilmore and Kilbride parish, Argyllshire, at the head of Loch Feochan, 4 ¼ miles SSE of Oban. Its owner, Thomas William Murray-Allan, Esq. (b. 1828), holds 10,000 acres in the shire, valued at £1525 per annum. A saurian-shaped mound was excavated here by Mr John S. Phené in 1871, when the cairn-formed head was found to enshrine a megalithic chamber, containing burned bones, charcoal, a flint instrument, and burned hazel-nuts.Ord. Sir., sh. 45, 1876.
