Descriptive Gazetteer Entry for Glenure

Glenure, a glen in Ardchattan parish, Argyllshire, descending 31/8 miles west-north-westward to Glen Creran at a point 3¾ miles NE of the head of Loch Creran. Its upper part exhibits sterile grandeur. Its lower part contains Glenure House, which, occupied now by a farmer, with Barcaldine still gives designation to Sir Duncan Alexander Dundas Campbell, third Bart. since 1831 (b. 1856; suc. 1880).—Ord.
