Harburn, an estate, with a mansion of 1804, in West Calder parish, SW Edinburghshire, ½ mile S of Harburn station on the Caledonian, this being 15 miles SW of Edinburgh. Harburn Castle, on the estate, is said to have been fortiged by Cromwell to overawe the mosstroopers.
