Kirkconnell House, an old mansion, surrounded with fine trees, in Troqueer parish, E Kirkcudbrightshire, on the right bank of the river Nith, 2 miles NE of Newabbey, and 7 S by E of Dumfries. Attached to it is a neat Roman Catholic chapel (1823). Its owner, through marriage, Robert Maxwell Witham, Esq. (b. 1819), holds 2974 acres in the shire, valued at £2739 per annum.Ord.
