Mintlaw, a village near the western border of Longside parish Aberdeenshire, ¾ mile E by S of Mintlaw station on the Peterhead branch of the Great North of Scotland railway, this being 9 miles W by N of Peterhead, 4 E by N of Maud Junction, and 35¼ N by E of Aberdeen. Founded during the first quarter of the present century, it has a post office, with money order, savings' bank, and railway telegraph departments, a branch of the Aberdeen Town and County Bank, two hotels, two schools, and a market on the second Tuesday in every month.
