Pinmore, a mansion in Colmonell parish, Ayrshire, 6 miles NE of Colmonell village, and near Pinmore station on the Girvan and Portpatrick railway (1876), this being 5 miles S by E of Girvan. Seated on a rising-ground, at one of the loveliest bends of the river Stinchar, and surrounded by beautifully wooded hills, it was a Scottish Baronial edifice of the 16th and 17th centuries; and, destroyed by fire in 1876, it was next year restored in a similar style of architecture. Its owner, Hugh Hamilton, Esq. (b. 1828; suc. 1836), holds 8441 acres in the shire, valued at £3833 per annum.Ord. Sur., sh. 7, 1863. See A. H.
