Bangor, par. and seaport town, NE. co. Down, on S. side of Belfast Lough, 12 miles NE. of Belfast by rail -- par., 17,015 ac., pop. 7087; township, 824 ac., pop. 3006; P.O., T.O., 1 Bank. Market-day, Tuesday. Fishing is the chief industry; muslin embroidery and the linen mfr. are carried on. It is also a sea-bathing resort. In the vicinity are the seat of Bangor Castle, and the ruins of an abbey.
