Descriptive Gazetteer Entry for Ribbleton

Ribbleton, township, Preston par., N. Lancashire, mostly in bor. of Preston, 649 ac., pop. 575; at Ribbleton Moor the Duke of Hamilton was defeated, in 1648, by Cromwell, and the insurgents, in 1715, by Generals Willes and Carpenter.
