St John in the Vale, eccl. dist., Crosthwaite par., Cumberland, on SE. side of Keswick, pop. 311; the Vale of St John is narrow, but very picturesque; it is bounded on the E. by Great Dodd, and on the W. by Naddle Fell, and is traversed by St John's Beck.
