Stapleton, par. and local government dist. (ry. sta. Stapleton Road), Gloucestershire, on NE. side and within theparl. limits of Bristol, 2554 ac., pop. 10,833; was the birthplace of Hannah More (1745-1833), novelist and essayist. The residence of the bishops of Gloucester once stood here; the building now forms a boarding-school.
