Descriptive Gazetteer Entry for Tyne, South

Tyne, South, river, Cumberland and Northumberland; rises on the mountains to the E. of Cross Fell, and flows 19 miles N. to Haltwhistle, and thence 14 miles E. to a confluence with the North Tyne near Hexham.
