Cong, vil., in the above par., S. co. Mayo, near the head of Lough Corrib, 18 miles NW. of Galway ry. sta., pop. 277; P.O., T.O. Market-day, Friday. It is situated on a rapid stream (4 miles long) that flows from Lough Mask to Lough Corrib. The objects of interest are a stone cross, the fine ruin of an abbey, and the curious natural caverns in the neighbourhood.
