Dalswinton, vil. and estate, in co. and 7½ miles NW. of Dumfries; P.O.; on the estate is Dalswinton House, on site of an ancient castle of the Comyns; it was built by Mr Patrick Miller, the landlord of Burns, and the projector of steam navigation; near the house is a loch, on which he launched the first trial steamboat.
