Deanston.-- vil., on river Teith, 1 mile W. of Doune, Perthshire, pop. 679; P.O.; has cotton-mills, founded 1785. James Smith of Deanston (1789-1850), inventor, agriculturist, and philanthropist, was for many years manager of the mills.
