Dolgelly, market town and par. with ry. sta., Merioneth, at the confluence of the Aran and the Wnion, and at the N. base of Cader Idris, 9 miles E. of Barmouth, 19 SW. of Bala, and 228 NW. of London -- par., 25,607 ac. (575 water), pop. 3962; town, pop. 2455; P.O., T.O., 2 Banks, 3 newspapers. Market-days, Tuesday and Saturday; is the principal town of the co., and has mfrs., to some extent, of coarse flannels and tweeds. In an old building called the Parliament House, Owen Glendower is said to have held his Parliament in 1404.
