Duns, market town and par. with ry. sta., Berwickshire, 55 miles SE. of Edinburgh and 357 NW. of London by rail -- par., 11,396 ac., pop. 3353; town, pop. 2437; P.O., T.O., 3 Banks, 1 newspaper. Market-day, Tuesday; Duns has mfrs. of fine linen, a bleaching-ground, and a brewery. On Duns Law (700 ft.) are traces of a camp formed by the Covenanters in 1639, and in vicinity is the seat of Duns Castle.
