Descriptive Gazetteer Entry for Helston

Helston, mun. bor. and township, Wendron par., Cornwall, on river Hel, 1 mile N. of Loo Pool, 10 miles SW. of Falmouth, and 318 SW. of London - mun. bor. and township, 309 ac., pop. 3432; P.O., T.O., 3 Banks; owes its importance to the productiveness of the copper and tin mines in the vicinity, most of which, however, are now worked out and deserted. The bor. returned 1 member to Parliament until 1885.
