Holt, market town and par., N. Norfolk, on eminence, 10 miles NW. of Aylsham, 2991 ac., pop. 1535; P.O., T.O., 1 Bank. Market-day, Wednesday. Holt was the birthplace of Sir Thomas Gresham (1519-1579), merchant, founder of the Royal Exchange, London.
