Karl Lofts, remarkable antiquity, Westmorland, 2 miles S. of Shap; was originally an area ½ mile long, and from 30 to 60 ft. wide, enclosed by lines of unhewn granite blocks of great size; it is now intersected by the Lancashire and Carlisle Railway.
