Descriptive Gazetteer Entry for Milborne Port

Milborne Port, town and par. with ry. sta., Somerset, near SE. border of co., 3½ miles NE. of Sherborne sta. and 8¼ miles NE. of Yeovil Junction, 3277 ac., pop. 1877; P.O., T.O., 1 Bank; has mfrs. of gloves, leather, and shoes. Milborne Port was a place of some consequence in Saxon times, and sent representatives to Parliament from the time of Charles I. till 1832.
