Search for a place
Mortimers Cross, vil., Aymestrey par., Herefordshire, on river Lugg, 5½ miles NW. of Leominster; here, on the 2d of February 1460, the Yorkists under Edward Mortimer, Earl of March (afterwards Edward IV.), defeated the Lancastrians under the Earl of Pembroke; the event is commemorated by a pillar erected in 1799.
