Newtown St Boswells, vil. with ry. sta. (St Boswells), partly in St Boswells, but chiefly in Melrose par., Roxburghshire, near river Tweed, 3½ miles SE. of Melrose and 40½ miles SE. of Edinburgh, pop. 444; P.O., T.O., 2 Banks; is an important railway junction on the North British Railway system, and has extensive auction marts for live stock.
