Osborne, royal residence, Whippingham par., Isle of Wight, on Osborne Bay, 1 mile SE. of East Cowes; the edifice is in the Italian style, and has a campanile 90 ft., and a flag-tower 112 ft. high; the royal apartments are adorned by a large collection of statuary and paintings, and look out upon terraced gardens and lawns which stretch to the sea.
