Parkhurst Forest, Carisbrooke par., Isle of Wight, in NW. vicinity of Newport; was the first royal chase established in England; in E. vicinity are the Albany Barracks (1798), now always called " Parkhurst," and Parkhurst Prison, erected in 1838 as a juvenile reformatory.
