Restormel Castle, ruin, Lanlivery par., Cornwall, on a hill overlooking the valley of the Fowey, in N. vicinity of Lostwithiel; was built in the time of Henry III., was a stronghold of the Earls of Cornwall, and was taken by the Royalists in 1644; at the foot of the hill is Restormel House, seat; adjacent is Restormel Mine (iron), the first visited by Queen Victoria in her progress through Cornwall.
