Vale Royal, seat of Lord Delamere, Whitegate par., Cheshire, on river Weaver, 3 miles SW. of Northwich; was built in the time of Elizabeth on the site of an abbey founded in 1266; in the vicinity is a railway viaduct over the Weaver, 456 ft. long, with five arches 63 ft. in span and 60 ft. high.
