Yspytty*, (or Yspytty Evan), vil., Carnarvonshire, and par., partly also in Denbighshire - par., 4768 ac., pop. 819; vil., on river Conway, 6 miles SE. of Bettws-y-Coed and 10 S. of Llanrwst; P.O.; a preceptory of the Knights Templars was founded here in 1159, and used as a hospitium for travellers.
