Flodden Field, on river Till, N. Northumberland, 3 miles SE. of Cornhill; here James IV., King of Scots, was defeated by the Earl of Surrey, Sept. 9,1513; an unhewn pillar of granite marks the place where the King fell; before the battle the Scots were posted on Flodden Hill, a spur of the Cheviots.
