Leith, Water of, Edinburghshire; is formed by headstreams in Midcalder par., and flows 23 miles NE. to the Firth of Forth at Leith Harbour; the old vil. of Water of Leith, in W. suburbs of Edinburgh, is opposite the old vil. of DEAN: which see.
