Piel, island with ry. sta. and harbour, Dalton in Furness par., N. Lancashire, at 8. extremity of Furness Peninsula, 5 miles SE. of Barrow in Furness, and connected with the mainland by a causeway; P.O., called Piel Pier; near the sta. are the massive ruins of Piel Castle, or the Pile (or Peel) of Fouldrey.
