Minto, par. and vil., Roxburghshire, on river Teviot - par., 5601 ac., pop. 433; the vil. is 1½ mile E. of Hassendean ry. sta. and 6 miles NE. of Ha wick; Minto House is the seat of the Earl of Minto; Minto Hills, 2 rounded heights, are 905 and 836 ft. high; and rising above the Teviot are Minto Crags (729 ft.), to which allusion is made in Scott's Lay of the Last Minstrel.
