Descriptive Gazetteer Entry for Cley next the Sea

Cley next the Sea, par. and vil., N. Norfolk, 4½ miles NW. of Holt, 2363 ac. (165 water), pop. 719; P.O., T.O., called Cley; had once an extensive trade in corn, but from the silting up of the harb. the commerce of the port is now inconsiderable. Prince James (afterwards James I.) of Scotland was captured off C. in 1409.
