Hunstanton, watering place and vil. with ry. sta., on river Wash, W. Norfolk, opposite Boston, 18 miles NE. of Kings Lynn by rail; P.O., T.O., 2 Banks; owes its rise as a watering-place to the opening of the railway in 1862; has a pier 280 yards long, a promenade, and a good beach, which affords excellent and safe bathing; in vicinity is the seat of Hunstanton Hall. On Hunstanton Point is a lighthouse with fixed light (Hunstanton) 109 ft. above high water and seen 16 miles.
