Skegness, small town and par. with ry. sta., on coast of Lincolnshire, 5 miles NE. of Wainfleet and 10 miles E. of Spilsby, 1710 ac., pop. 1338; P.O., T.O., 2 Banks, 1 newspaper; is a sea-bathing resort, and succeeded a walled town with castle which was swept away by the sea towards the end of the 15th century.
