Humber.-- estuary of rivers Ouse (114 miles) and Trent (147 miles), on E. coast of England, separating the counties of Lincoln and York; it is 38 miles long, from 1 to 7¼ miles broad, flows E. then SE. to the North Sea, and drains an area of 9550 square miles; its mouth is narrowed to 5 miles by Spurn Head promontory, the SE. extremity of Yorkshire; lights are at Spurn, Bull Sand, Grimsby, and Killingholm.
