Appleby, par., vil., and seat, on confines of Derbyshire and Leicestershire, 6 miles SW. of Ashby-de-la-Zouch ry. sta., 2020 ac., pop. 757; P.O. It is sometimes called Appleby Magna, and contains the hamlet of Appleby Parva.
