HOLY-STREET, a hamlet on the NE border of Dartmoor, in Devon; on the river Teign, 1 mile W of Chagford. It is a romantic place; has a remarkably picturesque mill; and is thought to have got its name from a Druidical road, passing from the circle on Scorhill Down to the cromlech at Shilston.
(John Marius Wilson, Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales (1870-72))
