Balleshare, an island in North Uist parish, Outer Hebrides, Inverness-shire, in the western part of the sound dividing North Uist island from Benhecula. It nearly blocks the W entrance of the sound; has an irregular outline and much indented shores; and measures about 10 miles in circumference. Pop., together with that of Illeray, (1861) 199, (1871) 246.
