COPELAND FOREST, a moorish mountainous tract in the SW of Cumberland; between Ennerdale-water and Wast-water, from 3 to 9 miles E of Egremont. It includes numerous fells and peaks; and has an altitude, at the Pillar-fell, of 2, 893 feet.
