Descriptive Gazetteer Entry for COCKERMOUTH, KESWICK, AND PENRITH RAILWAY

COCKERMOUTH, KESWICK, AND PENRITH RAILWAY, a railway in Cumberland; east-south-eastward from Cockermouth to Keswick, and east by north-ward thence to Penrith; into junction there with the Lancaster and Carlisle railway. It was authorized in August 1861, and opened on 1 Jan. 1865. Its length is 31 ½ miles.
