CANONTEIGN, the seat of Viscount Exmouth, in Devon; on the river Teign, 8 miles SW of Exeter. The mansion is an elegant edifice, erected by the late Viscount. The previous mansion was built in the time of Elizabeth; was garrisoned for Charles I., and taken by Fairfax: and is now used as a farm house. The remains of the hero of Algiers were interred in the neighbouring church of Christow.
