BURSTALL-GARTH, a manor in Skeffling parish, E. R. Yorkshire; 4½ miles SE of Patrington. A cell to a Benedictine Abbey near Albemarle in Normandy, was founded here, in the 12th century, by Stephen, Earl of Albemarle; passed to the monastery of Kirstall; and was eventually swept away by the sea.
