BUCKLAND-IN-THE-MOOR, a parish in NewtonAbbot district, Devon; on the river Dart, adjacent to Dartmoor, 3½ miles NW of Ashburton, and 9½ W of Newton r. station. Post Town, Ashburton, under NewtonAbbot. Acres, 1,458. Real property, £980. Pop., 113. Houses, 24. The property is divided among a few. The manor, with Buckland House, belongs to the family of Bastard. Buckland-Beacon is a rocky eminence, commanding a very brilliant panoramic view. The living is a p. curacy, annexed to the vicarage of Ashburton, in the diocese of Exeter. The church is small, and was recently repaired. Charities, £33.
