The village stands on the river Dearne, near the North Midland railway, 1½ mile NE of Wath and Bolton station, and 7 N by E of Rotherham; and has a post office under Rotherham.—The parish includes also the hamlet of Goldthorpe. Acres, 2,213. Real property, £4,443. Pop., 479. Houses, 112. The property is subdivided. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of York. Value, £88. Patron, Mrs. Hirst. The church is good; and there are a Wesleyan chapel, a national school, and charities £19.
