BISHOPDOWN, a township in Aysgarth parish, N. R. Yorkshire; 4½ miles SE of Askrigg. Acres, 4,805. Real property, £1,925. Pop., 87. Houses, 17. The surface is an upland vale, traversed by a rivulet of 8 miles, tributary to the Ure. The vale is picturesque: and the rivulet makes a fine fall, called Foss Gill.
