WEETSLADE, or Weetslet, a township in Long-benton parish, Northumberland; 5½ miles N of Newcastle-upon-Tyne. It contains the villages of Seaton-Burn, Six-Mile-Bridge, and part of Hazlerigg. Pop. in 1851, 1,353; in 1861, 2,828. Houses, 503. The increase of pop. arose from the opening of a new colliery.
