SWANSEA CANAL, a canal in Glamorgan and Brecon; from Swansea, up the vale of the Tawe, 17 miles to Ystradynglais. It was formed in 1794-8; it rises 373 feet, with 35 locks; it sends off a branch to Llansamlet; and it is connected both with the Neath Junction canal, and with varions railways.
